Participants of the Citizens’ Report on Consumer Protection in Bavaria have been “reactivated” for a Detail Citizens’ Report on Food Quality in the Enlarged European Union.
36 Citizens from Krumbach have taken part in an international Symposium “Well informed – eat better – live healthier” in the Palace of Munich on June 25th, 2003. Subsequently, they developed their recommendations for information of the population.
Since May 1st, 2004, the European Union has ten new member states, from which more and more food will be imported. The task of the citizens was to point out which misgivings they have, which information they need and how they want to be informed about the new member states and the food imported from there. The outcome is going to be used by the Bavarian Ministry for Health, Food and Consumer Protection to improve consumer counselling and information.
